Oat bars with tahini
The ideal pre-workout snack: complex carbs from oats and healthy fats from tahini, ready in 15 minutes.

A balanced pre-workout snack: ~210 kcal and 6 g protein per bar. Oats provide steady energy, tahini adds healthy fats, with no processed sugar.
Method
- Mash the banana well with a fork in a bowl.
- Add the tahini and honey and stir until smooth.
- Add the oats, cinnamon and salt; mix until the liquid is absorbed.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks and press the mixture into a baking tin lined with parchment.
- Chill for 1 hour (or bake for 15′ at 180°C) and cut into 8 bars.
Why it works before training
The combination of oats and tahini gives steady, "slow" energy without a sharp sugar spike and crash. Oats provide complex carbohydrates that fuel your muscles, while tahini adds healthy fats and a dose of protein. Ideal 60–90 minutes before a moderate-intensity session.
Tips & variations
Want more protein? Add 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder to the mix, plus a little extra liquid. For a vegan version, swap the honey for agave syrup. They keep in the fridge for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to a month. Let them sit out for 10 minutes before eating.
